Using good quality yeast is essential for efficient ethanol distillation

Strong alcohols and spirits need to emerge safely through the distillation process and using good quality yeast is essential for efficient ethanol distillation. Ethanol or alcohol as it is more commonly known is available in the form of various alcoholic beverages and is also available as biofuel under the category of bioethanol, which is used to power vehicles.

While most mild beers and wines usually use the brewing process to produce alcoholic drinks with low strength levels, stronger alcohols and spirits such as whiskey, brandy, vodka, etc are required to pass through the distillation process to empower them with extremely high proof levels. Again, while milder alcohols use milder versions of the saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast, stronger alcohols require stronger variants that can survive in strong alcohols without dying, which in turn could result in stuck fermentation.

There are special types of fermenting yeasts available in the market such as wine yeast, whisky yeast, vodka yeast, etc that help in specific ethanol production. However, these yeasts too are available in different qualities and inferior yeasts might contain high quantities of wild yeast or other harmful bacteria that could result in an inferior and dangerous product. Professional distillers as well as home-distillers need a form of super yeast that is enriched with essential micro nutrients that can provide stronger alcohol strength even at higher temperatures.

Ordinary yeast can only engage in sugar fermentation at temperatures between 15 and 27 degrees Celsius. They either become too sluggish or die when the temperature crosses these limits. However, supercharged turbo variants of ordinary yeast that have been fortified with micro nutrients are available in the form of turbo yeast. This turboyeast can ensure excellent ethanol fermentation that can provide a good base for ethanol distillation. The alcohol or ethanol derived after using turbo yeast is not only stronger and purer but is also higher in yield as compared to alcohol derived from ordinary yeasts.

The distillation process basically heats up the ethanol mixture to boiling point where various ingredients such as water and ethanol that have different boiling points are evaporated at different temperatures. The resultant vapors pass through a condensing unit where they are cooled back into liquid form. However, the resultant strong alcohol or spirit will be excellent only if the fermentation process has been completed using strong distillers yeast that provides stronger alcohols in the first place.

Whether it is a vodka distillery, a whiskey distiller, a brandy distillery or even a bio enthanol plant, the fact is that all of these units will require hardy yeast to ensure that the fermentation process provides a high yield even against weak mashes. This will lower the cost of ethanol production as well as offer alcohol with better color, acidity and strength. Good quality yeast will also ensure consistency in production, which in turn can enhance the brand name of the product and the manufacturer.

It is important that the mixture that ends up at the distillation plant itself is strong and pure by nature so as to derive stronger ethanol from it. Professional distillers and home-distillers need to choose top quality yeast such as turbo yeast to ensure that the ethanol distillation process ends up producing ethanol which exceeds their expectations in terms of quality and quantity.
